HISTORY
We are the pioneers in eye care industry in Sri Lanka. Our founder late Mr. George Abeygooneratne opened his first branch in Maradana in 1956 and later developed by his elder son Late Mr. Lionel Abeygooneratne. Later Mr Lakshman Abeygooneratne established George Gooneratne as an optical brand name in Sri Lanka. Our president Mr. Jayantha Abeygooneratne was the first to produce fused glass bifocals in 1971. Since then the company has grown rapidly conquering both wholesale and retail markets in Sri Lanka.

ADMINISTRATION
Administrative and operational activities are handled by Mr. Hiran Abeygooneratne BBA in MGMT & MKT (USA).
Eye Testing and Digital Free Form processing Departments are headed by Mr. Diluk Abeygooneratne B.Sc. (Hons. Optometry - UK) He is an expert in Eye testing equipment handling (Nidek Japan) , repairing and Digital Lab process
Mr. Ravin Abeygooneratne (Dispensing Optics UK, Refraction UK) is a Director in the Marketing and HR Departments.

Now the George Gooneratne Optomentris is managed by of its 3rd generation. Three Abeygooneratne brothers (Hiran, Diluk and Ravin) have taken over the management process under the name of HDR Management. Their main goal is to shift the company to more professional and high standard level.
HDR Business management will push the company to sell more branded products and to venture with international brands in the future. Moreover HDR has established high quality standards and after sales service for customers.
New management partners will expand its business to their new online business attracting new customer base in national and international level.
However HDR management will not expand their branch network in 2018 but will try to increase its quality sales volume and standards instead.
HDR management has been able to improve GGO’s lens and Coating quality maintaining strict quality control methods and shifting to best industry practices.
GGO will achieve new heights in this year with the introduction of international slandered flagship store in Colombo and full scale online store.
